Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 3 March 1988. Jenkins describes her early years in Raleigh, North Carolina, her marriage, divorce, and decision to move to California. She talks of her illness, her daughter's marriage, and why she followed her to Chicago, Illinois. She speaks of her conversion to the Mormon Church and its influence on her present life.
